Memorial Tournament Deployment

The Dublin IDT deployed in support of the annual PGA event at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. The annual Memorial Tournament draws thousands of golf fans every year. CT Paul Richmond and CS Nancy Readnour deployed the mobile command trailer in advance of the event. The MCT, which served as the command post for both police and EMS, was staffed by both IDT and non-IDT dispatchers throughout the week long event. Two dispatchers were on duty from 0600 to 2000 each day. One dispatcher handling course security and EMS units and the other coordinating traffic and perimeter units. On average, there were 50 police officers, 4 bike medics and one medic unit assigned daily. In additional to the primary law enforcement agency Dublin PD, there were also LEOs from Franklin County SO, Delaware County SO, OSHP Delaware, OSHP Columbus, FBI Columbus and the Columbus JTTF.

New for this year, a wireless Axis camera was tested on the city's WiFi network giving a color camera view of the 18th green gallery and the clubhouse. Next year, after the completed buildout of the WiFi network, it is anticipated that several wireless cameras will be deployed in and around the event grounds to be monitored in the MCT.

Operations were across two radio systems - the City of Dublin 800MHz system and Ohio MARCS 800MHz system. This ensured interoperability between all public-safety forces and helped to balance the PTT load across two systems.
